HOLY COMMUNION

Hello! This'll be short because I'm pretty pooped.

Today was the first Sunday of the month, so we had the Holy Communion and I got skipped; I didn't get the bread and the cup.

I thought about standing up and trying to get the Communion from one of the ushers. But God put this in my heart, and I'd like to share it.

Back in Jesus' time, when Jesus broke the original bread and passed around that original cup of wine, wine wasn't some fancy drink that you only have on special occasions. Back then, not all water was potable, so wine was actually safer to drink than water. Wine was their water, to a certain extent. And bread was the most basic staple food. You guys remember the story of the boy with the fish and loaves? (John 6:1-14) Bread was just regular food; it wasn't really special.

Don't get me wrong. The Holy Communion is powerfully symbolic when done at church. It's an impactful reminder of what He's done, a timely reiteration of the reason for our salvation.

But when God said "do this in remembrance of Me", I think He meant for us to remember Him whenever we eat even the most basic foods, which is a necessity. He wasn't asking for a ceremony. He was asking for faithfulness to Him in whatever we do, a communion (an intimacy, a sharing) with us at all times.

That's all from me for today. I pledge to take the Holy Communion in everything I do! God bless you guys, have a great week!
