TALK & LISTEN

Tonight I studied Psalm 48:8:

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord Almighty, in the city of our God: God makes her secure forever. Selah

(Heh and look there is a "selah" in it ahahah yay)

And what I noticed was that "heard" comes before "seen". "Hearing" is of a higher priority than seeing! We have to hear the word and accept it, to hear and obey what God's telling us, listen to the feedback we get from other believers, before we'll see any results or miracles! There is no such thing as a textbook Christian, you can't mug for Christianity. I guess my aim for this week will be to shed my pride and open my heart to hear what He's saying, and to do it! I sometimes hear Him saying something, like "you don't need to fold up your skirt so high", but out of vanity and for the sake of fitting in with my peers, I disobey. That stops right now!! "Hearing" isn't about knowing and dismissing, it's about taking in and acknowledging!

On top of all that intrapersonal stuff, there is also the interpersonal... How can others see the light of God in our hearts, see the great things He's done for us, or the ways He's changed us, if we keep silent? No, our job isn't to preach. But by standing up for what's right, speaking up against what God does not condone, talking openly and freely about your relationship with Christ, being unafraid to let God take the wheel in everyday conversations, we're letting other people see what God wants them to see!!

So if you're struggling with evangelism or behaving in a Christ-like way (I know I am), I encourage you to take a moment to quiet your hearts now and pray for Him to speak to you... Then keep an ear out for Him throughout the day, week, month, year.... And I'm pretty sure you'll start seeing things in a way you've never looked at them before.

For me, my goal this week is to stop trying to please everyone, and focus purely on pleasing God(: Pray that I'll succeed through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)
